Adding Custom Accent Colors to Windows 10
Changing the accent colors in Windows 10 is am easy affair. You can change the colors of Start menu, settings menu, taskbar and various window title bars. By default Windows 10 lets you select froma predefined palette of 48 colors. But you can add the hue of your own choice. In order to add custom accent color using the mixer you need to follow these simple steps.
- 1st of all open the run prompt and for that you need to press Windows+R or by typing Run in the search box.
- Now type in Control Color into the run box and then hit OK. A window will appear with the color list.
- Now select the color block that is closest to what you desire. The window title will change to match the color.
- Now open Show color mixer.
- Adjust the Hue, Saturation and Brightness bars till you get the color which you desire. As you will move the sliders you will see a preview of the color.
- After this you need to click Save Changes.
Adding Custom Accent Color Using the Registry:
- Now if you an exact color which you want to use as an accent color you need to edit the Windows registry to add it.
- Open the registry editor by typing regedit in the run box or in the Search box and then press Enter.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\ by opening the folders located in the left pane.
- Now create the Accents key under Themes.
- Now open the Accents key.
- Now create a subkey that is named as “0” under the Accents and another one named “Theme0” under that.
- Now create a new DWORD value named Color under Theme0. New DWORD can be created by right clicking in the right pane and selecting New>DWORD and then renaming the entry that it creates.
- Now open the Color DWORD value by double clicking on it.
- Enter the value of color in ABGR (which is also known as KML) format and then click on OK.
- Close the Regedit and then restart the computer.
